About
Welcome to canoedog.ca. This personal site is a way for me to keep a record of some of my adventures and as a vehicle to share them and information to other interested folks. As a middle aged kid, I've been messing around in the outdoors for years but seldom took the time to take pictures or record the who, where, when etc of these trips. Since the advent of better computers, scanners and digital cameras and such, I have been collecting pictures and keeping a few journals etc. This site is an attempt to start organizing the clutter on my hard drives that haven't been corrupted or lost when the system(s) inevitably crashed! and from the drawers of my deskThe site will contain some of the records of my wanderings both in the outdoors and through some of the other interests I have developed over the years.
So who is canoedog? I'm Sid Bredin, married with a daughter at university and a couple of Golden Retrievers who are not! However, it's really our oldest Golden, Sasha who is the real canoedog as she loves to get out on the water and gets right put out when I don't take her. I have been an avid outdoorsman all my life. My main outdoor interests these days are canoeing, hiking, winter camping, fishing, birdwatching or just about any other excuse to get outside. I guess my attitude to life is pretty well summed up by the 2 quotes below, so let loose and get out there!
"Don't take life too serious, you'll never escape it alive anyway" - Elbert Hubbard
"Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional" -Anon.
